120502, 2230hr, central time. yes, i have finally finished my finals. and as i expected, it's a terrible anti-climax. i spent the whole night of thursday finishing up my international relations paper, and i barely finished it half an hour before i was supposed to leave for my morning exam on friday, which was just in time since i was supposed to hand it in after that morning exam. i couldn't really be bothered to study for that exam anymore anyway, so i wasn't really too bothered that i didn't have time to study. i was that sick of studying. luckily that's one of my gis classes, in which i'm doing so extremely well so far i don't think i can really screw up so badly in that final exam to lose my A there. yah for hardworking cindy! half way through that exam though, i was so tired, i actually fell asleep. i was woken up by my rumbling stomach, and decided it's best to just hurry up and finish the exam so i can go home to either get some proper sleep in a proper bed, or to eat something. so when i did finally finish the exam, it wasn't joy, excitement or even relief, i was actually really just wondering whether i should eat or sleep. oh well. in the end i chose sleep over food, and i concussed the rest of the afternoon away. friday evening, a whole bunch of us drove up to chicago for a batch dinner. the food was great, some of us had some red wine too, it was generally a nice dinner, though not all of us were there. alvin had to stay behind, because his mom and his sister were arriving on friday evening. after the dinner, lynn, priya, debbie and i stayed in chicago while the rest of the people went back to campus. i originally thought we could have a nice girl's night or something, watching a movie in our room, but that plan fell through, due to inadequacies of our room, and we just went to sleep. the next day, we picked up priya's family from the airport and had lunch at penang restaurant. after that, lynn and i went on to walk around at downtown chicago, and i'm really glad to be hanging out with lynn, seeing how we didn't get to do much of it during the semester. but the weather was totally sucky - rainy and cold, so we didn't really enjoy ourselves too much walking around. we had dinner at the famous cheesecake factory, where the queue is legendarily long and cheesecake amazingly good. the main course turned out to be quite delicious too, to my mild surprise. nice dinner conversation with lynn, so the company was great too, that's actually my favorite part of the day. by the time we got back to campus yesterday, it was already late at night. i met alvin's mom finally, chatted a little. originally wanted to go bum around at the bubble tea place, but that plan fell through too, so i just went to sleep. and oh i slept so soundly - i didn't realize how tired i really was. today's graduation day, so i really spent the whole day with alvin and his family, starting from the ssa graduation luncheon till dinner and post-dinner shopping at the supermarket. i'm absolutely exhausted, and i don't actually have a good feeling about my prospects with alvin's mom. not so much cos she's a grouchy old woman - on the contrary i think she's quite nice and very friendly, she didn't make things difficult for me or anything like that. it's more like a gut feeling. from the little positive comments she made about another girl, to the little negative comments she made about my type of behavior, if that makes sense. so anyway, that's the narrative account of what's happened to me the past 3 days. i'm too tired now to really elaborate on everything. something else's happened, i'm very worried, and i can't really think of anything else, or feel anything else. i'm just worried. not about alvin's mom, ok. puh-leez.
