i got stung by a bee again exactly 11 months ago, i first got stung by a bee, and it was the beginning to my day of bad luck. and today, i got stung again, i hope this marks the end of my bad luck.

i was at the ssa bbq, towards the end, just before we were about to take that obligatory group picture, i was very thirsty, so someone passed me a bottle of some soft drink and naturally i just drank. and the bee that was in the bottle went into my mouth [now that i think of it, fortunately not my throat]. i spat it out, but it was too late, i was already stung. on my lower lip. sob sob. yes, i have the sexy bee-stung lip [not lips] now. argh!!!!

lynn drove me to mckinley, but it's not open on sundays, i found out. so i had to go home, and call the 24/7 dial-a-nurse service instead. they were busy, so some woman took down my particulars and told me to wait for the nurse to call me back. sheesh, if i had been allergic to the bee sting, i probably would have died by the time she calls. sort of like the way the doctor last year told me that if i start having difficulties breathing and if i start to pass out, i should go to the hostpital. dude, wouldn't that be kinda too late already?

[lesson for the day:]
1) when stung by a bee, do not attempt to pick the sting out, as that will stimulate it to release more venom. try to flick it out instead with your fingernail or a credit card (??).
2) get some baking soda, add a little water to stir into a paste, and apply on sting for 10-15 minutes before washing it off.
3) baking soda tastes gross.
4) apply cold press on sting to relieve pain and swelling.
5) difficulties breathing, swelling on the throat area, nausea, and dizziness are signs of allergy to the bee sting, see a doctor immediately.
6) even without allergy, look out for signs of infection, such as discharge from sting, red streaks radiating from sting, and further swelling despite treatment.
7) look before you drink.

anyhow, so that's the whole story of my 2nd bee sting. shit. and i freaking don't want to hold a cold pack in my mouth like an idiot. i'm at work, cos i can't find anyone to substitute for me on my shift. people are looking at me strangely, that i appear to be sucking on some white gauze/cloth. shit.

i feel pretty shitty. i feel rather tempted not to go to dinner with my friends. oh yes, by the way, shaun's friend from upenn is here to visit. guess what, i know him. he was one of the group leaders for one of my science camps in secondary school, one of the oh-older-and-therefore-cooler guys. hahahaha....he seems so different now, he seemed quite shocked that i knew that he's from the gep, and indeed, he looks like he's moved on from his RI clean image. oh well. talk about a small world. or rather, a small overseas-scholars-world i guess.

argh, screw the cold pack. my lips can remain swollen. shit. i just wish it would stop hurting. shit. shit. shit.
