Explore a sea cave
When I made the long and strenuous day hike into Hanakapiai
Beach on the Na Pali coast, I was rewarded
with two large caves (opening from one small one into which
I had crawled) and this small, private beach!
Shopping
Kukui Grove, Puhi (a real shopping
center)
WalMart, Lihue (cheap needs) and next
door to
Hilo Hattie's, Lihue (cheap Hawaiian
touristy items)
Marketplace, Kapaa (free Polynesian

Ching Young Village,
Hanalei (a casual town of shops and restaurants)
Sight-seeing drive
Take a drive north, over dozens of one-laned bridges.
The landscape gets even more lush and tropical, as you drive
to the end of the road. Turn inland and explore new roads,
or simply enjoy the ocean views around every turn.
Bridge hint: all cars traveling one direction continue to cross, rather than
taking turns one car at a time in each direction. (Trust me, it works much better
this way and the locals expect it!)
Spouting Horn
West of the Poipu Turnoff, you will find a wild area
of volcanic beach in which the waves spout through holes,
shooting upward in great gusts of mist.
Torchlighting ceremonies
Order a drink or pupus and enjoy the sunset with a free Hawaiian
show.
