Drive
north, past Hanalei, over the one-laned bridges.
Stop at Haena
Beach and eat at the Taste of Paradise truck. Explore
the dry
cave.
Walk
east along the shore,to snorkel at Tunnels.
Just
before the end of the road, enjoy the wet
sea caves, and then continue to the end to park under
the trees. Take a picnic lunch. (Ke'e has toilets and showers,
but
no food vendors.)
You can find excellent snorkeling, or wading or swimming.
Around the point is a private beach where sea turtles rest.
Hike up the hill to a heiau,
or make the more serious hike into the Na Pali Wilderness for
incredible mountain and ocean views.
A
day on South Shore: Poipu
In Puhi, tour Kilohana, a Plantation House now turned into shops
and a restaurant overlooking the gardens.
Drive through tree
tunnel and
wander the shops of Koloa.
Continue south and turn west to see Spouting Horn.
Then,
go back east to Poipu Beach Park for snorkeling
and playing in the waves. There are covered tables, toilets, showers,
and
restaurants.
Time your drive to visit the Hyatt,
either for lunch by the swan lagoon at Ilima Terrace or
for 6PM pupus on Seaview Terrace, watching the
sunset over the ocean, as Hawaiian chant and dance is performed.
Stroll through the lobby, talking to the tropical birds, and
wander
the lagoons,
taking in the ocean views.
