The Sheridan County Sheriffs Department is Staffed by  Sheriff Larry Gessner,  Chief Deputy Trent Naser, Deputy Rich Bauer and Part-Time Deputy Kent Alderin.
Sheridan County is located in the geographical center of North Dakota.  It is nicknamed "The Heart of North Dakota" for that reason.  Sheridan County is approximately 1000 square miles and has 28 townships. The County Seat is McClusky, which is located on Highway 200 about 60 miles NE of Bismarck ND, which is the state capital.  There are 3 cities in the county McClusky, Goodrich and Martin with McClusky being the largest with a population of about 500, followed by Goodrich with a population of about 161, and Martin with a population of about 100.
The Sheridan County Sheriffs Department is responsible for the law enforcement duties of the entire county.  There are no police departments for any of the cities, except for the city of McClusky, which now has their own police officer.
