Bullmastiffs are a working dog breed that evolved from the Old English Mastiff and the Bulldog. The Bullmastiff was developed in 19th century England to protect wildlife from the ever growing problem with poachers. The Bullmastiff was official recognized in England in 1924 and made its debute in North America in 1931.
Males are 63.5 to 69 centimetres (25 to 27 inches) in height and weigh between 50 to 59 kilograms (110 to 130 pounds). Females are 61 to 66 centimetres (24 to 26 inches) in height and weigh between 41 to 50 kilograms (90 to 110 pounds). Bullies have a short dense coat and are red, fawn or brindle in colour.
