Because he's always good for 20-plus points everytime he plays as attested to by his stats, Bogs, naturally will have to get more than the players on the team whose contributions are in the category of loose change.

And so who really cares if Bogs is not so young anymore. At least his legs are as good as new, and he makes it a point to treat to treat every game as if it were championship night, unlike some of the league's superstars who have this bad habit of going about their business on the hardcourt like they were being paid by the hour.

To go now to a question which I know is in the back of your mind. How may ShellChem be expected to fare in its maiden season in the PBA with a team which man for man, could never be compared with Great Taste Coffee's or Beer Hausen's?

Without meaning to give a long face even before the 1985 season has started, let me tell you, Chuki, that if ShellChem could come up with a ripple in its first PBA campaign, ShellChem could buy all the bleachers fans at the UL gym a drink.

Or probably, since ShellChem is not dealing in gin, beer or rum, all the insecticides that they need to kill all the bugs and mosquitoes that have made life miserable for them.

As no doubts you must be gleaned from the first statement of Webb as ShellChem coach, he's not about to make the company feel highly optimistic about the team's pennant chances in PBA '85.

As he said then, "We may not be able to win championship in our first year, but we don't intend to be pushovers, either."

Obviously, Freddie knows what he's up against and it's a lot. But like the man said, if ShellChem could win some games this season and keep its head above water even if it can't come up with a big splash, you and I, Chuki, we won't look like a pair of perpetual mourners on the sidelines.
