Mythical Biology

Description: Study the creatures of the mythical world through research, demonstration, and hands-on work. The class will range from the well known (Selkep) to the rarely-known (Catoblepas), from small (Mermecolion) to large (Kraken). Class will include field trips if students prove not to be morons. Bring to class: brains and common sense, wand, research will be done on designated days, so bring supplies for researching and writing papers on days specified by teacher.

Potions

Description: Hee hee come to my class. Everything from...fun stuff to love potions, plus a few boring ones like, "Oh my word my hair changed color for two seconds." Bring yourself, wand, cauldron, candy, and a handwritten bio about yourself to be posted in the room. Don't bring these thingies, then I will make you drink something particularily nasty. There's a huge final.

Necromancy

Description: Working with panpipes for beginners and bells for the advanced. Works on going into death, progressing through different gates, and confronting the creatures in death. Must be a pureblood to take since the magic will only respond to purebloods. We will study from books, and move into actual death. Bring your panpipes or bells, a notebook just for this class, black, ballpoint pens, and no fear. Lack of any of these will get house points deducted. I will not put up with timid attitudes. There will be a final exam and report. I will provide the books.

Black Magic Defense

Description: The best method for protection is education is the logo of this class. First you learn Black Magic and then you learn to block it, work around it, and counter it. Will be learned through books, and then practiced in dueling against each other and a few things I will personally bring in. Please bring your wand, a notebook just for this class, and black, ballpoint pens. If you fail to come with supplies you will be docked house points. There will be a final exam and report. Elements

Description: Study the Elements of the magical world for application to real life, and adding to your spell casting abilities. This class will focus on the elementary elements: water, earth, air and fire, and then move onto more complex elements (muggle children will know some of the detailed elements from �The Periodik Table�). You will learn the advantages to understanding the elements and how to harness and apply the powers. Come to class with: wand, working attitude, and lots of paper and pens (heavy note-taking required, however class will also comprise of hands-on work).

History

Description: A study of Magical history. Everything that is relevant in the magical community shall be taught here. Famous witches and Wizards, epic battles, ancient cultures, origins of certain spells and creatures. Current events are also discussed as well, tracing their problematic roots back through time to see how some things began. Special points are awarded to those who can raise relative questions and topics in class. Students will be judged on their understanding of the topics presented to them by the teacher and the projects they complete (on their own and the allotted class time) to demonstrate such understandings. There are a few quizzes and the odd test, as well as a major assignment to be passed in and presented to the class at the end of the year. Other than that, nothing too hard as long as you pay attention

Physical Education

Description: What good is magic when you're as durable as a daisy? Physical Education picks up where the magic leaves off, testing the physical limitations and capabilities of each student. The class is designed to push everyone to the edge and increase their stamina in order to improve their strength and vitality, when magic alone can't save the day.This also includes introductions to various wizarding and non-wizarding sports as well as other varied activites. Ice skating, swimming, jogging, rock climbing, etc. Special P.E uniforms are required and are distributed the first day of class.

Herbology

Description: Study the magical and non-magical qualities of plant life through demonstration and on-hands work. Through this class you will be able to learn the medicinal qualities of plants, the destructive, their personalities specific to type, what is, and what isn�t, edible, and much more. Class occasionally includes fieldtrips. Required: Extremely durable gloves (dragon-hide recommended), any plant book you can get your hands on (Shastina is too poor for proper textbooks, therefore books won�t be a prominent feature of this class), extra credit options available.
