Yasmila, Ziortza

Pen Name: Ali
E-mail: Foweryam(at)comcast.net

Character Information

Full Name: Ziortza Ann Yasmila
Nick-name: Zio
Age: 30
Birthday: March 13th
Blood Type: There are family rumors of her great, great, great, great grandmother being a plant, but they're unproven. (O)
Height: 5'11.5"

Appearance: The first thing people tend to notice about Ziortza is her height, and the blandness of her facial features. She received her eyes from neither her Egyptian mother or Latin American father. Where they should be dark and exotic, they were instead the standard almond shape, colored a deep green that almost bordered on brown. Her slim nose was long and given another 10 years would become too big for her face. Average mouth and ears added made her face a boring sight to look at. (Nice to her arent I?) Her body fits her height and is lean with little to no curves. Of course you couldnt tell that with the clothes she wears. Ever been stuck in a wild forest for 20 days trying to find a rare Elisheba bud? Ziortza is always prepared to deal with any situation that involves a plant emergency. Layers are definitely the key to her attire. Bulky down jacket covers fleece sweat shirts which covers faded t-shirts which covers worn long sleeve, warmth providing shirts. Long Johns are her god. And yet, despite all her clothing, she hates wearing shoes. She certainly has a large collection of sandals, but its rare to see her wearing anything on her feet. Socks are her devil. Her brown-black, 4 inch long hair that has a tendency to spike at weird angles is nearly always covered be a warm hat of some sort. And then theres the entire other subject of what she carries around in her huge back-packing back-pack. Plant medicine, medicine plants, garden implements, food, more hats? All that is known about that giant, green, luggage is its always with her along with her dented, faithful watering can she keeps at her hip.

Notable Traits: Sun=good Night=bad Rain=anxious & energetic Storms=defensive winter= depressed

Personality: Ever met a walking talking plant that is actually human? Well, you have now. During the day shes probably the most patient teacher on the staff with tolerance for any morons mistakes. She has a tendency to seek solutions and reaches decisions slowly. Ziortza prides herself on never holding a grudge, but she never forgets the wrongs done to her. As long as theres sun she has the energy to get things done. Now, if for some strange reason you happen to see her at night, run the other way. If the world was perfect and everything went Ziortzas way she would be allowed to stay curled up in her green-house, sleeping all night long. But this is Shastina. Its far from perfect. To wake Ziortza it often takes drastic measures, much effort, time, and the guts to face a very, very, very mad plant teacher. Where she is gentle and energetic during the day she is a sarcastic bitch that would much rather beat the crap out of somebody than doing what probably needs to be done. It also seems that all the negative energy she builds up during the day has a habit of coming out. So maybe you did something that might anger a normal person to her during the day, shell remember at night and be less than welcome.

History: Ziortza spent her childhood in a remote, hick-like town in southern California. Her mother was born in Egypt, but it was soon after her birth that her father decided they had enough wealth to survive in America and immediately moved. Other than her odd parents with foreign customs she was a normal kid. In late High-school she met Ziortzas father, and they instantly became friends. Believing in peace and freedom (AKA: they were hippies) they left their home to wander the world spreading peace. If having a child and leaving it with the grandparents then they did a very decent job. Ziortza was raised by her fathers mother and father who were completely open to taking her in, and never once resented having their granddaughter dumped on them. And thus the main character of this tragic story grew among the loving, gentle arms of her grandparents and nature. For at a early age Ziortza showed an infinity for anything that could be grown with the right nutrients. In her later childhood her mothers mother (who had been widowed) managed to find her and tried her hardest to get Ziortza to live with her, but to no avail. In the end she moved in with Ziortza and after getting adjusted brought the world crashing down on Ziortza. Blahblahblah witch blahblah blah blah special blahblahblah school. Blah. Yay. The only thing that Ziortza really cared about was learning the wonderful world of magical plants (yes, her grandmother bribed her). Unfortunately as the time came for her to enter school the family could not find a school that specialized in herbology. Well, they did eventually. Her fathers parents, who were now awakened to the world of magic recalled tales of their homeland (South America) of some sort of magical building high up in the Indies. And lo and behold there was one and off went Ziortza to school. She was an average student, and the only class she excelled in was the study of plants. And so everyone was happy and soon the day neared where Ziortza was to return home, but on the day after graduation she vanished. Shes never told anyone what she did for the next 15 some years of her life. Her first connection to Shastina was the day she wandered upon it (back-pack and all) and immediately began to fix up the broken Green-house that hadnt been attended to in years. And without asking she became the Plant Life teacher at Shastina.
