Appearance: Sydney is a blandly normal height of 5 foot 10 and is on a whole rather unnoticeable when in a crowd, small group, or even classroom. His body, despite his age, seems to be just now losing it�s baby-fat. Although it�s not baby-fat he�s losing. With his recent attention to playing sports his once chubby body is hardening, and finally going through it�s burst of puberty. Within the next year its been predicted by his informative twin that he should gain a good couple inches and lose some of the �baby poundage.�
As for facial features Sydney is no where near bland. With an amazing feat of getting his mother�s genes Sydney has the soft, delicate look of an ancient Greek ideal figure- amazingly smooth skin (when he remembers to wash it): long, thick eyelashes to make him look like a girl: gentle, pouty lips that have a tendency to be tucked into a from, but create dimples when he has the patience to smile; and of course eyes that are a deep, rich turquoise with faint veins of jade green and amber yellow. To Sydney�s horror of breaching the clich� the amber veins have a tendency to become more prominent when he�s either angry, aggressive, or lustful. The jade, still sticking to the clich�, is usually thickened into a darker green when Sydney is pondering and lightened to a summer green when he is playful.
Overall Appearance (for those people that don�t want to read my rants): soft body bordering on being lithe and strong, unique eyes that are clich� but really hot, spiky crazy hair, dresses with the effort of a girl, and looks better the less he�s wearing.
Notable Traits: conflicted personality- self-controlled bipolar- extremely active and flirt during classes, meals, and morning- extremely lazy after exercising (sports-game/practice), at night and when truly angry- what you see isn�t what is true- bonded to twin (relies for love)
The Personality that everybody knows: The face most are likely to see and most likely to only see is the happier side of Sydney�s personality. All smiles and concerned frowns Sydney is most like his sister when he�s in a better mood. Like a true pack-animal he flocks to where there�s the most interesting people and won�t shut his mouth. He loves to know everyone�s secrets and is usually is indulged as it is an easily known fact that Syndey has no memory for such things. He is everyone�s friend, but nobody�s best friend. And that�s exactly how he likes it. He puts a huge effort into keeping a smile on his face and positive attitude, and despite the implied angst it�s something he�s come to accept as personality and has little problems with it now. His favorite hobby by far is sports and recently Rhianon has had problems getting Sydney to go to bed and eat when he�d rather be practicing. Unfortunately because of such interests Sydney has little time academic niceties and his grades suffer. It many ways he�s your classic genius in that if you can�t get him interested you�d have better luck trying to coax a mountain to move, but if he decides that there is something interesting in the topic he�s an easy A student. Too bad that hasn�t happened in a good 2 years. (Yes, see angsty past). Sexually he is very blatantly gay and has no problems with being an open flirt. Although commitment is something he probably will never be able to do.
The personality few know: The side few know (pretty much only Rhianon), is the leader and darker aspect of Sydney. Sydney�s deeper side has a strong tendency to only come out after a particularly hard practice or game, late at night (all nighters for homework are often something to avoid), and of course when there�s something that�s truly frustrating him. He is usually really careful to whom he shows this face to, but even if he is caught unprepared it is hard for him to revert to his sunnier side. When he does sink into this mood he is really lazy and uninspired. Although he has never sunk to the level of actually damaging his body, these times are usually really draining on his emotional and even when he has returned to his sunnier personality red eyes can still be found. Because he pushes these moods back his darker personality tends to be even darker than it would usually be. Sometimes he goes through a period in which he reverts to his darker side a little more often than he is used to and he becomes a bit more balanced. The happier side gets a bit more cynical and the unhappier side gains charisma and turns to something more of a dark humor. Its not something that really makes Sydney unhappy. In fact, he considers it perfectly normal and gets annoyed when Rhianon gets worried. The only physical activity his darker side enjoys is swimming. 98% if the time it is only swimming or Rhianon that can bring him up out his deeper side when there is something seriously bothering him.
NOTE: If you character walks up to Sydney and instantly knows he goes into these lows I will get really, really, really, really angry. I�m talking losing brownie points here. I�m only saying this because I trust you guys and I have the power to say it, but I�m telling the truth. Please deal with the fact that Sydney will likely not show his �darker� side to many characters.
Common History: Rhianon and Sydney were born and raised the beginning of her childhood in the middle of Idaho by the snottiest family many have ever met. Being the heirs of some great-great-great grandfather�s gold digging fortune Rhianon and Sydney were raised in a great old mansion by their Australian wet-nurse. Despite being greedy the parents got along fairly well with the children. Well, it probably helped that they only saw their children at lunch, dinner and on the Sunday outing to church. Everything was hum-hum until Rhianon and Sydney started to develop their personalities. Having picked up strength, selfishness, charismatic personalities and pride from their parents and a sense of poetic justice and inertest in knowledge from their wet-nurse the twins started to clash with everything around them. Their parents had no patience for their foolish need of love, the wet-nurse got fed up with their pride, and their private tutor had exhausted his store of knowledge. So they were sent off to a east-coast private school. Where surprisingly enough, they flourished. If along the twins would have likely turned out to be horrible people, but because they leveled each other out and provided the love both of them needed they were able to not thrive on their past. In fact, they consider it absolutely normal and don�t think twice about it.
The angsty, not talked about history: Rhianon rebelled from the authoritative figures in her life by deadlocking her hair and getting piercing. Sydney hung out with the �bad� crowd. It started around High school when he actually got the chance to interact with other children that weren�t hicks from Idaho. Pretty fast Sydney was wrapped up into a world of drugs, parties, and alcohol. They were stupid teenyboppers and they thought they were bad-assed and cool. In reality they really weren�t that bad, and it was only something Sydney recognized at the edge of his mind. Back in those days Sydney was pretty blatantly gay and had tons of fun beating up homophobes. He was also much more of his darker side. Cynical and harsh he was quickly appointment the leader of the group and flourished with the attention. And yes, to be clich�, he had a lover (Keith) and they did �nasty� stuff together and all was good. Then somebody from the group fucked with an actual gang and suddenly Sydney�s little prat, private school gang found themselves facing actual bad-asses. And they were fucked. The majority of the �gang� managed to get away with minor cuts and bruises as Rhianon had managed to figure something was up with Sydney and had promptly called the police (yes, female saves the sorry asses of the males once again). In all of the confusion, Sydney managed to dislocate his shoulder and instantly passed out being the wimp he was. When he came to he found himself returned to his dormitory, and promptly felt relived, sure that no one had really been hurt. As it turns out someone had been hurt, and that someone happened to have died. I�ll give you one guess.
Instantly Sydney withdrew when Rhianon had to be the one of break the news that Keith had died. Many thought it had been the gang attack and Sydney took full blame for it. Absolutely convinced that it was his fault. You know, angstangstangst. As it turned out it was actually an abusive father that had learned of what Keith had been doing and had gone a little too far with disciplining his son. This is something Rhianon knows and is still desperately trying to convince Sydney to believe. He�s pretty convinced that it�s a lie.
And thus you have the reason for the slit personality. It a vain attempt to ease his pain he has changed his personality to be happier and more jock-ish in a desperate attempt to imitate the personality Keith had. Overall: he�s got enough angst to rival that of three orphanages. The only person that really knows is Rhianon and because of that he�s pretty desperately attacked to her. But in reality it goes both ways. Rhianon deep in her heart feels responsible for Sydney�s pain and so in return relies on him to help her though life being blind. They take care of each other.
