McLaughlan,Kallie Devnet

Pen Name: Tina
E-mail: 3xit(at)comcast.net

Character Information

House: Pantralus
Full Name: Devlin Kallie McLaughlin
Age: 15
Birthday: October 29
Blood Type: Pure Blood
Height: 510

Year: 1

Appearance: More often than not, red was the first thing people noticed about the tiny girl. Pure red locks began at the roots, slowly lightening and fading to an orange hue as they fell down her back. The alterations in color were caused by the sun, it naturally bleaching her hair as she wandered during her youth. Devlin, of course, inherited this brilliant hued hair from her Irish family, most of the fair-skinned relatives having blonde or the orangey-red hair so lovingly referred to as carrot-tops. But the tiny necromancer had not received the yellowish or orangey hair. No, she got a deep crimson, highlights of orange and firey tones weaving through the long and wiry mass. Perhaps the girl was under developed, or perhaps she was secretly a descendent from the Leprechauns of old; diminutive height and lack of womanly curves had always been part of her. But not her mother or her sisters with their curvy hips and well endowed chest. The girl looked almost fragile to most, but then again, you did have to look closely to notice the layers of muscle covering thin bones. Devlin was well toned, muscles rolling smoothly as she walked, ran, or slammed someone to the ground as a forward rugby or a defender in Jedaiger (which Ireland decided it liked very much because of its brutality). Scars traced her legs and arms from her experiences in less than kind sports, and broken and fractured bones were in her medical history. Surprisingly she had managed to not rupture any vital organs as of yet. Freckles remained over scars and pale skin, dotting the insipid flesh with small splotches of color to contrast the lighter slashes and scrapes that were her scars. Altogether one would never really notice the scars or the freckles, other than the ones on her face. The slash trailing up her cheekbone was light and nearly had disappeared, whereas the freckles remained sprinkled across the bridge of her nose. And placed above the cheekbones and scars, freckles and slightly pouting strawberry stained lips were two large eyes surrounded by coal lashes. Raven pupils held a fire of passion, for which is kept secret from the world. Surrounding onyx circles were sullen orbs of stony gray, unique in her family of dark and lighter blues. Perhaps a key to ability or fate remains locked within the cold rocks of her eyes.

Notable Traits: Necrophobia, (i.e. extremely disturbed by dead things coming back to life.) Also has a slight accent, but speaks English very clearly considering her Irish life. Devlin has a very temperamental anger, which is known to randomly flare and lash out at those around her. She seems to have an affinity to fire and her Cat.

Personality: Silence seemed to follow the girl where ever she happened to go, trailing after her like an obedient dog. Never really acquiring or needing friends, the Irish girl seemed content to speak to her Cat and no one else. Secrets seemed to float about the girl, mysterious and always slightly smiling. Did arrogance and obscurity truly leak from every pore or was it merely a false hope? While shadows and aloofness did follow her and stalk her more strongly than others, cruelty and odium was not her line of life. Devlin is stubborn and set in her ways, unwilling to waver for the benefit for anyone but herself. Helping others is obviously something she is not prone to doing, but may be obliging if she feels they deserve it. She has her own code of honor, believing it does not matter what it takes to get what you want. All is fair in love and war, although love is something the head-strong girl tends to avoid with great passion. The youthful McLaughlin is predisposed to view softness of heart and kindness as a weakness; she will generally ignore or tease those who offer her help and warmth.

History: Raised in Ireland, Devlin was born in Wexford, but the family quickly moved to Dublin once they realized the newest daughter was gray-eyed like the great descendents of the McLaughlin family. The main part of the McLaughlin clan resided in Dublin and was famous for their necromancer abilities. Yet the power had dwindled slowly as the years went by. All remained pureblood witches and wizards, but the clans ability in necromancy continued to be weaker. The last powerful wizard in the family had been Devlins great-great-grandfather, who had shocking gray eyes like those of the past great McLaughlin necromancers. He died before little Devlin was born, but had managed to see the beginning Kerry McLaughlins pregnancy with her. Aran, Devlins great-great-grandfather, had said he felt a tremendous power from within the developing child. The Cat the greats of past had captured and collared agreed with Aran but would speak to no one other than him. The Cat had never been fond of the McLaughlin clan. But the family ignored it until she was born with bright gray eyes like that of her grandfather. Surrounded by family and stories of necromancy, Devlin McLaughlin was predicted to do great things. The Cat took a liking to her as soon as the girl managed to grab his tail and jerk it, causing them to spill to the ground in a mass of teeth, fur, and claws. The girl was about ten and had managed to control him as he attempted to attack her, ignoring his taunting and pleas to have the spell removed. They became companions ever since. At the tender age of five, the girl accidentally raised a dog from death. Devlin hadnt noticed it had once been dead and was happily petting it. Her family told her that the mutt had been dead and the youth screamed, terrified of dead things walking around. The dog fell back down dead as soon as the splitting sound pierced the air. Attempting to forget her abilities in necromancy, the girl began to play violent and harmful sports. She enjoyed both the pain she received and the pain she gained from the rough fun. The next time she fortuitously managed to raise a person and give it perfect flesh, personality, and memory. Once again the family pointed it out to her and she began to scream, causing the creature to seep back into its grave. By this time she was thirteen and the family decided she would need training beyond what the family could teach her. They promptly began to create plans for her to go to the best school for necromancy, which happened to be on the west coast of the US.

Wand Wood & Core: Aspen wood with pixie wings, seven inches in length.
Classes: Necromancy, Black Magic Defense, Potions, History, Elements, and Mythical Biology.
Sports: None
Pet: Cat, who is, by all means, a Cat. A Sphinx captured by the earlier McLaughlin clan, he managed to wreak havoc and troubled until he stumbled upon Ireland. The great Cat was captured by the entire family, everyone helping to keep the Sphinx from destroying more villages and slaughtering more families. As the Sphinx began to weave a great curse to spit upon the descendents of those attempting to capture him, the final spell was laid, turning him into a small cat with golden fur. He has the ability to talk, but prefers not to, seeing as most people get disturbed. He has a habit of begging people for freedom, desperately lusting after the destruction of the McLaughlin family. Yet after taking a liking to Devlin, he promised her never to curse her or her specific descendents. He has slanted yellow eyes and a golden fur that is literally golden. Cat enjoys following Devlin where ever she goes and annoying anyone who happens to annoy him. Cat is immortal and has wisdom beyond his ears, yet he tends to be a smart ass so most ignore him. Having the ability to be in Sphinx or human form when not constricted by the spell, which is one of the unique things about being a male Sphinx. If one answers his question truly, he will grant them immortality, but if one gets it wrong, they will die a horrible death. Devlin loves Cat, and attempts to protect him although he ends up protecting her more often than not.

Theme Song: "Dragula" by Rob Zombie.
