Appearance: Alain is rather pathetic looking in truth and he's not the type you would do a double-take on. He's rather tall at about 6'1" but his build is slim and lanky. His skin is dark and he looks notably Arabic due to his mother who was a transfer bride from one of the tribes so he could be a pureblood without inbreeding. His hair is jet black, a little shaggy, and is cut in an uneven, chopped sort of way. His face is rather cute, without acne or other marks, except for a nasty looking scar slashed over his right cheekbone. During the autumn and winter, his skin pales enough so that the freckles that spray across his nose are visible. His eyes are a dark brown that often deepen to black, but most just see the thick-rimmed, emo glasses over them. Once he takes these off he undertakes the mysterious transformation that most geeks manage beautifully and becomes gorgeous. Without them he is blind as a bat though, so they don't come off too often.
He doesn't smile too much but when he does he is adorable, but his unheard laugh is dark and somewhat manical/disturbing. He wears a lot of black and stuff that cover's his face, hoodies are especially popular. He isn't goth/punk/depressed/God knows what else you people come up with, he is just really, really damn shy.

Personality: The reason that he is so quiet all the time is because he is an observer. Something of a genius, he's exceptionally skilled at analyzing the situation and getting his ass out of there safely. Most of what he's thinking is reflected in his expressions, and anyone who can people read will see him as an open book. He's exceptionally arrogant about himself and any direct blows to his ego will be met with scorn. It's rather difficult to piss him off but it is possible, but he just gets all sulky. He's quite the passive-agressive type and can be rather sadistic. Most of the time though he just sits in the corner and creeps folks out. Unpredictable and silent, his thoughts are his own and he rarely speaks to ANYONE! Some have even thought him to be a mute. He loves animals though and is exceptionally gentle with them, affectionate even. If put in a dark room he goes into a panic and has to be brought back from something that rivals shock.

History: The Aurius bloodline is one of the most pure, and his father acts as the family patriarch for the whole line, so his family has a lot of influence and power. Besides Leibel, whom he considers an utter disgrace like the rest of the Aurius' and completely ignores, Alain is the only child. Some would consider him spoiled and what not but in truth he has had to live through the perfectionist hell that overachieving parents put their children through. Except his was a bit more nasty. When he misbehaved, and a certain "look" or speaking out of turn was misbehavior, he would be beaten with a paddle or sometimes with a belt until he could no longer stand. Ice cold baths were another nasty method, but the worst was the closet. Ever seen Carrie? It was kind of like that. Only there was no way out from the inside and it was more like a hole in the ground than anything else. From here his fear of darkness began and increased. He would go for days down there without food or water until he was dragged out. Such abuse was tolerated because his father was the patriarch and his father knew what was best for his son. That, and like most pureblooded families, you don't screw with other folk's business. The scar is the only visible sign he has left over and it came from a direct slap to the face with his father's signet ring. Alain was chewing with his mouth open. Naughty boy.
When he was sent to finishing school, he got all that surpressed anger out. Try torturing small animals and anything weaker than himself that he wouldn't get caught with. He was that weird kid in the corner lighting the bugs on fire with some strange spell. When people tried to be friends with him he would stare blankly at them. That has developed to just plain surprise over the years. He was getting worse as the years progressed until a present arrived in the mail from his mother in Arabia. She had come across a stray dog and had sent it to him at finishing school. Soliloquy was her name, and the Anubis hound taught him so many things in so many ways. He still had no friends, but at least he didn't burn small animals alive or poke nails into them anymore.
He graduated top of his class and was sent to one of the greatest and oldest magical schools in the Middle East, where he stayed with his mother's tribe. Away from all the abuse his father had dealt out he developed into a rather impressive young boy, but still rather quiet. It was at this school he honed his Necromancy skills until they were rather impressive, and became a very good Selkep racer. Renegade was another present from his mother, and because of it's hot blood, it was one of the fastest breeds of Selkep at that time. Over the last year they've discovered one in Africa a bit faster but they are still on the same playing field. He was happy at the school, and slowly was making friends with some of the other tribal teens, but then the school fell victim to a suicide bombing (it was disguised as a Japanese embassy), and he was transferred back to his father.
His father had heard about Shastina as a good school, noted for it's Necromancy, and opted to send him there. Alain never argues with his father so that's why he is now at Shastina. All pretty and wrapped up with a bow.
