SharKades Apothecary
As you make your way down the dark streets, mist swirling about your ankles
you become aware of a subtle difference in your surroundings. There, a short
distance ahead of you, its hinges creaking with the soft breeze, hangs a new
sign. Adorned with a mortar an pestle, the name SharKades LoR Apothecary
boldly emblazoned on its surface. Candle light, eerily dancing out through the
large front window, beckons all who pass. As you near the door, you decide to
at least check it out. Grasping the ornate handle, opening the door, you quickly
step inside. Leaning back against the door, you wait a moment until your eyes
adjust. Your nose is the first to bring you information about the place. The air
you breath is heavy with the aroma hundreds of different herbs. Each scent
blending with, yet exquisitely separate from the other. The outer waiting area is
homey and quiet, padded chairs and benches, along the walls. The walls themselves,
done in calming shades of blue and purple. Not a large room by any means, on
the two side walls, hang smallish hand renderings of forest scenes. Directly across
from the door against which you lean, is a counter. Behind the counter you see a
vast room, lined with cabinets. Each cabinet having many tiny drawers. Some few
of the cabinets having glass fronts, these containing a vast array of unusually shaped
and colorful bottles. The working surface of the table is marble, a delicate set of scales,
and three mortar an pestles, grace its center. It is here that the wares of this store are
mixed. The potions, salves, elixirs, all that one could seek is here, if not it can be. At
the back of the room, you see a smll window and a narrow doorway, leading to an
alcove. Through the doowawy are, two doors one to the right, narrow winding stairwell
leading upwards, is lined with bottles and jars. Halfway up the stairwell is a door leading
into the office, where the records are kept. Rows of books on the potions, and mixtures
in which we experiment. Living quarters are at the top, should it be needed. One to the
left leading outside into a narrow alley. Through the window you can see a small garden,
from which many of the herbs come. Crossing to the counter, your eye is drawn to a tray
of small scrolls, a quill and ink pot. On the scrolls are written only these words ..
