Last year I switched from Linux / Windows to Mac OS X. I don't miss anything. The reason for switching -- coming soon.
I recently installed a third party Wireless Adapter and Acess point. Here is my experience in setting up the wireless network. It was lot easier than would have been in Linux or Windows. There was no driver installation, recompilation or rebooting the system.
