Peeping
Tom
Tom
and his colleagues secretly installed software in the
computer of one of their officemates, Dida. They were
annoyed by how Dida worked in their office. They described
her as someone who does not do her job properly and
who always gives unreasonable reasons to stay away from
her responsibilities. And so they decided to investigate
what keeping Dida busy that she had not time for her
duties. Through the software that they installed, they
were able to remotely monitor what Dida was doing with
her computer. They discovered that Dida was always surfing
websites unrelated to her job and she always busy talking
in an online chatroom during office hours.
Their action somehow shows a violation
of privacy in computing. Although they have probable
reasons to question Dida for not delivering well in
her job, they still do not have the authority to peep
on Dida’s computer. They might have gotten a lot
of evidences for what they did but they somehow violated
Dida’s rights for her privacy especially that
there was actually no policy on computer use in their
office. Unless they have the proper authorization from
the higher management, they cannot just sneak to other
people’s property only to satisfy their curiosity.

events but the names of the characters have been changed
