Poultry Population
As per Punjab Development Statistics, 2000, there are 377 broiler and 41 layer poultry farms in the district having rearing capacity of 5304 and 587 thousand birds respectively. There are also 4 breeding farms having rearing capacity of 146 thousand birds
Availability of Hides / Skins and Slaughter House Wastes.
As per Punjab Development Statistics, 2000, 1,10,000 animals were slaughtered in recognized / un-recognized slaughter houses in the district during the year 1999–2000, which is a fair estimate of the availability of hides and skins in the district. The availability of slaughter house by – products is estimated as under :-

Production of Wool
The sheep population of 103 thousand heads in the district is expected to yield about 103 M. Tons of wool annually.
