Chapter 4: Fanfare

The next day the trap was, of course, untouched. All the Skittles were accounted for and the mouse wasn't inside the box. So Jonah added a few more treats. These treats weren't Skittles, for he reasoned the mouse didn't like Skittles. They were some sort of asian candy--like a Whopper, only hollow, not covered in chocolate, and egg flavored.

The next morning showed no fruits to our labor. Though the mouse was spotted by Jonah outside, near the chair. In order to get the mouse out, Jonah tipped the chair over. The mouse, however, must've been related to Houdini, because it wasn't there anymore and nobody saw it run away. Sergeant Atkinson was walking by when this happened and related to us a story about a mouse in his tent.

First, let me describe the setup of a cot. A cot has four poles that stick up at all the corners. These are to hold up the mosquito net which keep out intruders. Sergeant Atkinson woke up one morning and found a cookie on top of his mosquito net. Of course Sergeant Atkinson wasn't eating on top of his net, so where had this cookie come from? The only explanation was that a mouse had picked up a cookie and was eating it above Sergeant Atkinson on his mosquito net.

And so much for my trap--that day we got our T.V. and up went our recreation area. Hello X-box. Hello DVD movies. Hello Gamecube. And so the mouse trap was dismantled.
