Chapter 3: Mousetrap
Sunday, October 20th, was too much. Seeing that mouse (those mice?) scurry across the floor led me into action. I had no experience catching mice without a store-bought mousetrap, so my chances were slim. But I'm an engineer! If it can be done, surely an engineer would be able to figure it out. I may not be a Mouse Elimination engineer, but how hard could it be? I set up the simplest thing I could think of--no need to set up a Rube Goldberg. I set a box down with a ramp, I lined the ramp with Skittles. The trapdoor was the flap of the box; it would bend inward if any weight was put on it (I thought so, at least). I put some Skittles there, too. The next part was the hardest. Now I had to wait until Monday to see if it'd work. |
