John Wesley Shackelton Family
John Wesley Shackelton is the youngest child of Benjamin Shackelton and Lavinia Miller. John moved with his parents to Kansas when he was just five years old. John moved to the homestead in the early 70's. He helped his mother farm after the death of his father. He ended up buying the farm from his two brothers and his siste in August of 1906. After the death of his mother, John Wesley rented the farm out and moved his family to Chanute, Kansas. Early in 1916 he moved back and lived and farmed there until 1927 when the family finally moved to Pittsburg, where he lived until his death. John and his wife, Peachie, died 2 weeks apart.
