My time in NCC is just about the same as each and everyone of my platoon mates. All of us have gone through thick and thin in the budding of our unit. The experiences in NCC have merged with the close friendships that we have fashioned. The cadets of our unit each have a part to play in the moulding of our present stature and our future cadets.

I remember stepping into the unit as a secondary one pupil, not yet baptised by the crest of NCC to be a cadet. Surveying the scene of confusion, I could not find my place in this unit. But after attending the regular Saturday trainings a few times, I  found the rumoured hardest of all CCAs to be more than physically demanding. It was mentally challenging as well.

As we progressed through the years, a relationship each new platoon sergeant pursued. We got to know them as well as they knew us. The different platoon sergeants brought us through different approaches of life. Though extremely difficult times were administered, we extend our sincere gratitude to the seniors who have guided us through the course of our years.

On 21 July, the fourth batch of air cadets took over the running of the unit. Since then, it has been tough to contain and control the adventurous spirits of misguided cadets and it has been extremely difficult to maintain a standard in the unit that can be looked upon with a sense of respect.

I know now that being a leader is a sacrifice than a privilege. Time and effort have been spent by my platoon in moulding todays cadets and future leaders. I feel that problems have arisen through the short year of leadership and tackling them has been a challenge.

The leading of a unit is indeed a once in a lifetime chance. You can obtain experience that one cannot outside. Different characters and attitudes have been uncovered in the juniors as well as the seniors. A moments insight is sometimes worth a life experience.

Being in he limelight with a trusty set of supportive friends has changed my life and now the chapter ends. A new and bolder beginning has been set before me as I step forward and receive it in open arms.

The monument of a great man is not a granite or marble or bronze. It consists of his goodness, his deeds, his love and his compassion.
