The first step I took was penning down my name on the popular recruitment paper during Orientation Day 1999. I had no particular reason in doing this other than my gut feeling telling me to do so. This new life of mine was filled with many fun and memorable experiences, a few of which were during my school camps.
I was always excited to go for the school camps because I knew I was going to enjoy them despite the harsh punishments, which came with them. I remember a camp where we had to go through a night walk at Mac Ritchie Reservoir . That was new but refreshing experience. These little experiences helped build my confidence overcome one of my fears.
I had a few experience during my weekly and major parades. It was not that easy as I thought it would be. This was where we were tested on our physical power and most importantly our mental power. We had through all the stressful moments we encountered and be willing to take up new endeavours and challenges as we went along.
However after all this hard work comes the joy and pride of our life in NCC. The moment I took over the post of USM , I felt the need for my presence and my contribution to the unit. This made me realise that whatever project we undertake , we need to work as a team to accomplish it. When my time of serving was over and I handed over my position, I felt a satisfaction of accomplishment. That is all that one would need and want to achieve, the joyful moments of the NCC life!
