I strongly suggest that these rules are read before a persona sheet is written. Because I will ask for a revision if I think you haven't looked.

Anne McCaffrey's Rules:

1. There is to be no use of the Dragonlady's characters. No Moreta, no Lessa, no Sorka, no F'lar...you get the point. These are her people, guys; we can have just as much fun with our own people!

2. Your characters cannot come from Benden or Ruatha. These places are copyrighted to Anne McCaffrey, which means they are HERS!

3. There are 5 dragon colors...not 6, not 7...just 5. Gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green. No gray, purple, red, black, pink polka dotted dragons can be accepted. Nor can there be white dragons. Ruth was the only one! Ever!

4. There is no religion, magic, telepathy, telekinesis, etc., on Pern. Hey, we've got dragons! What more do we need? I'll tell you what else we DON'T need -- people from other planets (including Earth) in Pern. No Klingons or Borg or big gray tentacle-ed things, please.

5. Dragon names end in "th". No dragon has a name that doesn't end in "th". And, for the BoD's sake, please stay away from Nemesis, rider of Death, and K'mart, rider of Woolworth. It's cute...now. In a few weeks, when K'mart needs a serious plot, it won't be so cute. :)

6. Impressions: Gold - straight females Bronze - straight men Brown - mainly straight men, very rarely women Blue - bisexual/gay men and bisexual/gay women Green - gay men and straight/bisexual women Occasional exceptions to blue and green riders do occur.

Falling Skies/Skybroom Weyr Rules:

1. PLEASE ask before you make a ranking persona. Chances are, if it's open, you'll get it, but we'd hate for you to go to the trouble of writing up the whole sheet and finding out that the character isn't available!

2. If you expect to keep a ranking persona, you've got to be willing to work for it. Goldriders are expected to do mundane work, as are most bronzeriders and Master Crafters. We BoD reserve the right to yank a sona out from under you if you're not keeping up.

3. While you can have two bronzeriders, one must be at Falling Skies and one at Skybroom. Only one will be allowed to be a Wingsecond/Wingleader/etc. For every ranker, you must also have at least one non-ranker to balance them.

4. Please don't make super-sonas...you know. How much fun is a Holder's Daughter goldrider who is beautiful, smart, can sing like an angel, has her Mastery in Healing, and loves animals, children, people, and dragons? No fun at all! Make your people quirky or we'll do it for you!

5. Yeah, there are firelizards...lots of 'em, in fact, since Falling Skies itself is tropical. (The amount of flitters at Skybroom Weyr/Hold is likely to be a lot less than those at Falling Skies.) Don't give your persona more than three, however, and try to limit the number of metallic flitters you take. Also, a gold or bronze rider or Lord/Lady Holder CANNOT have a gold or bronze firelizard. You can have both a bronze dragon and a gold firelizard, but they must belong to different personae.

6. There is no Hearing All Dragons (HAD) ability at FSW.

7. Please don't create a character and then drop him or her after a post. It doesn't please the BoD. If you must drop a persona, either transfer him or her to another Hold/Weyr (Fort Weyr, Keroon Hold, etc.) or contact the BoD about killing him or her.

8. Mastercrafters spend a LOT of time getting that Master's Knot. Don't expect to get it at 20 turns; your persona must be at LEAST 30 before he or she can qualify for the position of Master. Journeypeople tend to be 17 years or older; apprentices are taken normally at eleven or twelve turns.

9. This is also in the persona sheet itself, but it bears repeating here: No one over the age of five can be born at Falling Skies Weyr or its Holds. Those locations have not existed long enough. However, a family can hae moved when the Weyr and Holds were first established. Dates are available on the timeline.

10. Our most important requirement: HAVE FUN! Make great plots and have crazy personas and do odd things. We'll love it and you'll love it, and together, we can make Falling Skies into a great Weyr!
