We last saw Semirhage torturing the Aes Sedai Cabriana Mecandes somewhere near Shayol Ghul. We know that the Dark One has deployed all the living Forsaken in various locations, with secret tasks do and charges to look after. After careful reading of hints and passages on Semirhage, here is one of the most plausible theories on where our favorite sadist is right now.
ANATH IS SEMIRHAGE
Winter's Heart Ch.14-What A Veil Hides
"...Anath is standing by the railing in unrelieved black silk outwardly undisturbed by the chill wind in spite of her lack of a cloak or cape…" "…(she was) slender, would have been tall even for a man…" "...charcoal dark face was beautiful… had large black eyes…"
A quick comparison with the description of Semirhage's physical features in the Prologue (pp. 65-66) of Lord of Chaos - Semirhage stood taller than most men, she had unblinking dark eyes in a smooth dark face, she often wore black (because Lanfear wore white) - would reveal that their descriptions match. The reference on Anath's being seemingly affected by the chill wind could refer to the form of concentration used by the Forsaken, Aes Sedai and Asha'man to repress heat and/or cold.
"...she (Anath) missed (Tuon's) tantrum…" - perhaps because she was away, torturing Cabriana (LoC pp.183-191) "It was less than two years since Neferi's [Tuon'sformer Truthspeaker] unexpected death… dying by something as stupid as falling down the stairs…" "…(Anath) was named by the Empress... when Neferi died. A surprise, with Neferi's Left Hand trained and ready to replace her…"
The suspicious circumstances surrounding Neferi's sudden death suggests that it was the work of forces of the Shadow, perhaps even by a Forsaken, in order for Semirhage/Anath to have a reason to be near Tuon. As Anath was named by the Empress, we can only conclude that Compulsion, or even some mild form of Semirhage's torture was used on her. Either that or she is a Darkfriend.
"...Anath performed the penance for Tuon (she cursed Neferi for dying)… she was almost tender about it in an odd fashion, though she left her (Tuon) weeping for days, unable to don a shift…"
Doesn't this suggest perfectly Semirhage's love for torture? She was tender about it because she was gaining pleasure from doing it, but all the same, she exacted some pain from Tuon making her unable to don a shift.
"...Anath drew herself up, lips compressing. Her eyes glittered. 'I am sure Suroth only had the best intrests of the Empire for ambition…" - Anath sides with Suroth, who is high among the Darkfriends
