Story: I've always loved lip piercings, wherever they are as long as they're not above the lip because I think that looks horrible. I wanted mine done since I was like 10, which was when I first tried it. That time was the most successful and stayed in the longest, a week, until my brother found out and would have killed me.
I literally only got a hot needle and shoved it through, which didn't hurt. All the other times over the next 2 years have been with a normal needle, no heat or ice, shoved straight through. It doesn't hurt at all until it starts swelling, or when I used a thinner needle and had to try and literally rip my lip to get the bar through, them times I gave up because that really did hurt.
I never cleaned it with anything which I should have done, as it swelled up a lot. The best things to use are either salt water, savlon spray or anti-bacterial/disenfectant stuff, which worked on all my other self-piercings. Hopefully soon enough I will be able to add a story about my tongue piercing, if I get a barbell and proper needle for it, and manage to work up enough courage! Look out for it sometime.
