Grooming
Even healthy
pygmies need to be groomed. This means frequent brushing, hoof trimming,
and an occasional bath. An old hairbrush will work well for brushing.
If you plan to give your goat a bath, be sure to do
it in the warm months, and to dry the animal completely. Goats can
easily catch cold if left out in the wind when wet.
As for hoof trimming, you can use whatever tool you
prefer. Some suggestions are garden shears, a utility knife, or special
scissors made for this purpose. It is best to trim every six to eight
weeks or whenever it seems to be needed. Just trim off the extra growth,
and always stop before
you see pink. Use iodine on small cuts.

Health Care
Pygmy goats need
different vaccinations and medicines throughout the year. These
include CDT, Bo-Se, and wormers. Check out Whirlwind Farms' Vaccination/Maintenance
Schedule.
The NPGA has many
articles online about different aspects of health care: NPGA
Site.
Check with your
veterinarian when you have any questions about your goats and what
health care they need.
