The Second Floor collective is a unique gathering of artists, dancers, filmmakers, architects, set designers, writers, storytellers and scientists. Collaborating across disciplines, we explore complex issues that transect culture and the environment. We have come together as a company with the common mandate of exploring the reciprocal relationships between the body and place. Our collective choreographic process focuses on the development a sensual awareness of space through dialogue between dancers, music, gravity, earth, and surroundings. Since its foundation in 1999 this group has performed in fFida (1999, 2001, 2003 Gala Event), Dusk Dances 2000, Harbourfront, Lula Lounge and independently in parks, warehouses and urban sites. Last August, the collective presented again at fFida 2004 but with the Theatre Series, undertaking the new challenge of creating a new piece in a neutral theatre space.
