Robert Ock
Equally at home in the recording studio, concert stage, club or theatre, Robert Ock has established
himself over the past 15 years as a versatile and innovative drummer and multi-percussionist.
He has garnered a reputation for his innovative explorations in hybridized drum kit /
percussion / electronic confi gurations that create modern, innovative voicings and textures
expressing Western, African, Asian and industrial infl uences. In addition to ongoing work as a
member of the 2nd Floor Collective, Robert has collaborated with noted dancers and choreographers in the Toronto area including Bridget Cauthery, Sarala Dandekar, Caroline Niklas-Gordon, and Lucy Rupert. Robert has performed or provided music for international festivals of dance including the fringe Festival of Independent Dance Artists (fFida), Dusk Dances, and Can Asia dance and has created the score for a short fi lm soon to be aired on the Bravo! Network entitled �Last Wash 10:00�.
He has an extensive background in community music and music therapy and is an accompanist
and presenter for educational workshops and master classes with the internationally acclaimed
Toronto Dance Theatre and the School of Toronto Dance Theatre.
Since 1996, Robert has been active in classical orchestra and musical theatre, and he has performed in numerous professional musical theatre productions throughout Toronto and Southern
Ontario.
Extensive experience in the realm of rock and alternative music includes a successful tour of
France and Switzerland in the summer of 2000 with the band Psycho Key, performance and recording with prominent independent artist Alex Baird, and seemingly endless touring of Ontario
and New York state with noted rock band Serene. Most recently, he completed recording the
debut CD of Lilith Fair featured performer Naomi Blicker.
