Cast Makeup/Hair Looks for KAT's NINE

Below you will find suggested makeup and hair stylings for each female cast member. Men will be fine as is with little to no makeup required. Because the setting is 1960s, makeup and hair styles were heavily stylized - the bigger the better (on or off stage)!

Makeup Notes: All suggested makeup can be purchased through Joy, Liz or Sara ([email protected]) and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to KAT.

Hair Notes: Please also look to your icons for suggested hair styles. Please contact me with any concerns you have (for example, if you don't think you can replicate the look) so we can make other arrangements (if you require a wig, hair piece, etc.).

UPDATED HAIR INFO: Click on the link (1960s Popular Hairstyles) to see a sampling of the most popular hairstyles from the 60s that I think you can duplicate. Remember, today we have all kinds of curling irons and blowdryers - things they didn't use regularly in the 60s (except at the salon) and these looks originally were done on wet hair where you had to wait (and wait) for the hair to dry before styling! For some of these looks I have included the styling instructions. Try working on these this weekend. Also, see your names below for suggested styles.

The Woman's Toolbelt: Please note that there are things that you should have, but are not listed on your individual pages. Makeup items can be found here: The Woman's Toolbelt (makeup). Hair items are as follows:

  • Brush: With small, compact bristles for teasing.
  • Comb: With small, compact teeth for teasing and parting.
  • Curing Iron: Large barrel - most of you probably have one of these already as they were popular back when the "Rachel hair cut" on Friends was also popular.
  • Hairspray: Buy the cheap stuff, you'll be using a lot of it. In the 60s, the bigger the better and under the stage lights, some of you will need as much hold as possible.
  • Gel/Mousse: If you need it, buy it. If you require these products, you may also want to bring a hair dryer.
  • Bobby pins/Combs/Barrettes: Most of you will require bobby pins, at a minimum. When my mom was married (in 1968), my aunt placed over 40 pins in her hair - and that was just to hold the style and had nothing to do with the veil! If any of you know me - or my mom, you know we have very thick hair that will hold just about anything we can throw at it.
