Sebastian Noelle Trio

Noah Jarrett
(acoustic bass)
Ferenc Nemeth
(drums)
I got to know Noah and Ferenc during my time at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Their excellent musicianship and creative personalities breathed life into our music. This group performs originals of mine with the occasional jazz standard twisted and turned until it fits our momentary mood. Our CD "Freedom Trail" (with special guest John Abercrombie) is out now, and directions how to order it are here. Click here to listen to audio samples

An ensemble cast of musicians brought together to create what is best described as "Pan Universal Music". Every performance is a celebration of life as they explore and expose the rhythms and sounds from the far reaches of the globe. Frenetic energy coupled with artistic sensitivity drive this band of virtouosic NYC musicians. Drawing from the music of Brazil, India, Africa, The Balkans, and The Mid-East, each song is a fresh musical landscape that speaks to the collective human entity. Art Music you can dance to with your body and your mind . . . Click here to listen to audio samples
Secret Sound Nation
with
Shlomi Cohen

(tenor and soprano sax),
Panagiotis Andreou

(el. bass)
Martin Valihora
(drums)

Secret Sound Nation was formed in May 2003 in New York City by four devoted musicians who were eager to explore their diverse ethno-musical influences. Being from four different countries - Israel, Slovakia, Greece and Germany - they speak different languages but play ONE music: rhythmically charged world music, often in odd time signatures, vocal-like melodies and a mix of modal and more sophisticated jazz harmonies. Secret Sound Nation borrows from the rich musical cultures of Brazil, Africa, Greece, the Balkan countries, the Middle East and jazz. The group pushes the boundaries of these styles in different directions and creates a rhythmically exciting, melodically sophisticated yet accessible mélange.
Most of the repertoire is comprised of originals written by guitarist Sebastian Noelle, mixed with traditional folk melodies arranged by the group. An important part of the group's concept is freedom in improvisation - drawing from the jazz vocabulary as well as from exotic scales found in cultures of the Eastern hemisphere.
The group has been playing in world-jazz clubs in New York City and has done an Eastern Europe tour in 2003.
