Back at Pearl Harbour, the Excalibur begins her extensive repairs in drydock, as
the crew enjoy a well-earned shore leave. But, events soon catch up with them, as a
Macronesian sleeper agent is uncovered, and a conspiracy revealed�

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
The idea for �R&R� came about as I considered the events of the previous arc. There was no way for the Excalibur
to be able to get straight back into the action, and take on the Archangel a second time, so I stuck her in drydock,
and went for a more character-based, rather than action-based plot, as the others had been. We explore further the
new relationship developing between Warren and Taylor, which had emerged in �Neptune�, but hadn�t really been focused
on in �The Higher Cause� (except for a few brief scenes). I knew that I couldn�t just establish the relationship and
leave it at that, that there had to be some sort of idea of the relationship growing and evolving, as we shall see in
later episodes.
There is a gradual trend in these first few episodes of developing characters, and �R&R� does much more on this than
the previous episodes. We start to see the closer interaction of the crew and a series of developing friendships and
cliques (such as Warren, Taylor and Stamp, Barratt and Smith, and, more interestingly and subtly, Clark and Hargrove,
who seem to have something deeper�).
This is the first episode to feature an A and B plot, and on occasion, it�s hard to tell which is which. The A plot
here is the sleeper agent plot, and the B plot Taylor�s attempts to get
Warren to clarify their relationship. I believe that neither plot suffers in any way, and both have a decent
conclusion.
