Seattle has both big
fancy hotels and small boutique hotels - take your pick based on the type of
experience you want to have
Because we live near Seattle and
sometimes use the city as a weekend getaway - we've stayed in many different
places. Here is a list of my favorites.
Updated Jan 2006
Downtown
Hotel Andra - This hotel's location in the trendy Belltown area
will put you in the center of Seattle's nightlife and close to many of its
best restaurants. You'll also be walking distance to tourist
attractions like Pike's Market. Guest rooms are stylishly decorated.
Famous Seattle chef, Tom Douglas' newest restaurant, Lola, is located in the
ground floor.
W Seattle - The
first truly hip Seattle hotel. Right in the middle of
everything. This hotel has a great lounge bar that I love to hang out
in on weekend evenings
Inn at the Market - This hotel has a great market location and very
friendly service. Some rooms have wonderful views (while others stare
at an adjacent building's wall). Cafe Campagne downstairs is one of my
favorite Seattle restaurants. This hotel's beds are
the most comfortable
in town.
Fairmont Olympic Hotel - Old fashioned luxury in a central location. The
Georgian Room serves an elegant afternoon tea and Sunday brunch
Westin Hotel - Five blocks from Pike's market and Belltown bars. Close
to the Monorail and downtown shopping. Cool cylindrical tower design
for those retro-modern fans.
Ace Hotel - With
rates beginning at $85, a stylish Belltown location, and modern decoration,
this hotel is difficult to pass up. Be aware, though that the least
expensive rooms have shared bathrooms.
Out of town
Willows Lodge (Woodinville): Next door to the Herbfarm Restaurant
(35 min to downtown),
this hotel feels like a mountain retreat and has a beautiful spa.
Suites have jetted tubs. Breakfast at the Barking Frog restaurant is
included
Woodmark Hotel (Kirkland): Comfortable, homey but elegant hotel on Lake Washington
(20 min to downtown). Snacks available in the kitchen at midnight.
Book a room with a lake view and have dinner at the Yarrow Bay grill.
