| Rob Blake came to the end of a two year deal with the Colorado Avalanche in the offseason of the 2001-2002 season. Coming up just short of Stanley #2 Blake was going to sign a 5 year contract with the Avalanche before hearing from Freeze GM Will Hagerman. Hagerman said that he wanted Blake to add the backbone to the offense and give the 1st line defense some talent. After hearing this Blake decided to go with the Freeze and join them for a 4 year contract worth about 1.95 a year. Asking why he took a paycut Blake responded with, "This team needed me and I needed them Colorado was great but with this team I know we can become a true dynasty." |
