Official Courses

Dunboyne.  The official home course of the Greenroyd tour.  Cheap, easy to get to and best of all, uncrowded.  Tucked away in a secret location in Co Kildare.

Local Rules: ball on gravel or tracktor tracks can be removed without penalty.

Ph: 825 2981 - 19

Dublin City Golf Course. Situated somewhere in South Dublin.  Very few details as yet.  More to follow.

38

St Margarets.  Nice northside course.  Fairly long, but in good condition.

UPDATE!  Shocking developments regarding St Margarets!  It is now CLOSED to in order to allow a road be built through it.

Ph: 864 0324 - 25

Corballis.  Tough links course near Donabate in North County Dublin.  Local knowledge is essential on the front nine.  Site of controversy last year resulted in an overhaul of the Greenroyd rules after much ball-throwing shenanigans.

Ph: 843 6583

Hollistown. "Private golf at public prices" is the marketing spiel.  Lovely course in North County Dublin, if you can find it on the map.  You need a collared shirt and you can't wear jeans here.  Generally reserved for special Greenroyd Cup occasions.

Ph: 820 7444 - Fairly pricey.

Swords Open GC.  Decent course near Swords (obviously).  Lots of water, but in fairly good condition. Good value.  Famous site of a Dec Meade eagle.

Ph: 840 9819 - 22

Deer Park GC.  Couple of nice courses near Howth.  Usually in good condition, though always fairly crowded.  Attempts in certain quarters to make it the home course have fallen on deaf ears.

Ph: 832 2624 or  832 3489 - Average.

Rathbane GC.  Average Limerick course with a few interesting hazards on the left of the long Par-5 5th.

Ph: (061) 313655 - Cheapish

Spanish Point GC.   9 hole links course. Lots of tough shots onto generally small greens.  Good surfing at the beach across the road, although the inside reef down from the Armada is a lot better at low to mid-tide, when it's working the middle reef can produce some tubes when it's on (rarely), while outside reef is...ah, okay I'll stop now.

Ph: (065) 7084198 - Cheap, or free if you're adventurous.

Roscrea Golf Club.  New addition to the Greenroyd Tour.  Yet to be tested, but it is recommended.

Ph: (0505) 21130 - 25, cheaper special during winter.

Grange Castle.  Former regular haunt of the Greenroyd Cup.  Currently out of favour due to price and crowds.  Still a favourite for midweek rounds however.

Ph: 464 1043 - 27.

Elm Green.  Like Grange Castle, this was a former favourite of the Greenroyd Tour.  But not any more due to crowds, price and poor condition, not to mention the leg-aching uphill walk on the long 16th.  Lots of hackers, be thankful if you finish before sunset.

Ph: 820 0797 - Ripoff.
