| Family: Carangidae Scientific name: Gnathanodon speciosus (Forsskal) Local name: Gerong-gerong Distribution: Coastal waters to about 60m depth Size commonly caught: 30-50cm total length Notes: Young fish are yellow coloured with distinct vertical bars while adults are paler with black patches and faint crossbar on their sides. Has sickle-shaped pectoral fins which are longer than its head length. |
