| First known Kroeze was Jan Gerrits Croese born about 1710, died in Apeldoorn, Gelderland. Jan had eight known children. His fouth son was Jannes Jansen Kroeze (Croese), born June 6, 1751, in Apeldoorn. Jannes' second wife was Maria Tessemaker whose family originally was from Diepenheim, Overijssel, and dates back to the 1600s. Jannes' second son from his second marriage was Derk Jan Kroeze, born in 1799. Derk married Jenneken Gerrits Roskam who family dates back to the 1600's in the Twello, Gelderland, area. Derk Jan Kroeze and Jenneken Roskam had seven known children all born in Twello, Gelderland: � � � Jannetje born 1828 married Hendrik Jan Karenbeld � � � Janna born 1830 married Derk Peter Oldenhof � � � Jacob born 1832 married Maria Veldhen � � � Martinus born 1835 married Hendrika Koller and maybe Elsje Hengeveld � � � Gerrit born 1836 married Gerritjen Jannessen and Annetje Glinthorst � � � Maria born 1838 married Jan Veldhoen � � � Jenneken born 1842 died at one year All the children but Martinus and Gerrit died in Twello. Martinus' death place in unknown, but probabily around Deventer, Overijssel, just a couple miles from Twello, Gelderland. Gerrit immigrated to the US. | Gerrit Kroeze was born November 29, 1836, in Twello, Gelderland. He married Gerritjen Jannessen on August 8, 1857, in Twello. Gerritjen was born Novermber 10, 1832, in Bathmen, Overijssel. The Jannessen family goes back to the 1600s in the southern part of Overijssel. Gerrit and Gerritjen had eight children: Derkje 1857-1927 Aaltje 1860-1936 Jenneken 1863-1938 Gerrit 1865-1879 Derk Jan died at 22 days Gerritje 1869-1945 Johannes 1872-1933 Hendrik Willem 1875-1962 For more detail on birth dates see Pictures of the Kroeze children |

| Gerrit and Gerritjen "Carrie" were married in Twello. Sometime between 1857 and 1860 they moved to Deventer, Overijssel. Deventer is just across the river Ijssel from Twello. By 1865, they were living back in Twello. On November 29, 1869, the household registers for Twello states that Gerrit left for Apeldoorn. It is not known if the whole family went or just Gerrit. By 1872, the family lived in Anna Paulowna, Noord Holland. This is where the Klein and Kroeze famlies met. It was in Anna Paulowna that they lost their son Gerrit in 1879. In October of 1882 the family immigrated to the US, except for Della who was married. She and her family came in 1884. The families settled in or near South Holland, Illinois. Gerritjen died January 7, 1902, in Illinois. Gerrit moved to Washington and married Annetje Glinthorst in Everett, Washington on July 25, 1902, she died just 10 1/2 months later. Gerrit died in Arlington, Washington, on December 9, 1922. For more information on Annetje Glinthorst see Glinthorst Family and Klein Family. Annetje "Annie" was the mother of Jan Klein who married Gerrit's daughter Gerritje "Carrie" born in 1869. |
