Hi! I'm Susan and I'd like to share my horses' lives and stories with you. I chose the name "Lancashire Farms", because I'm a product of Lancashire, England and have always loved draft horses, especially the magnificent Shire.
Lancashire Farms is located in picturesque Hampshire County, West Virginia.
My 'family' consists of
Rambo, my seventeen hand, chestnut Thoroughbred gelding- My lovely bay Shire stallion Northeast Greggory of Lancashire. And last but not least, my adorable Great Dane pup- 'Elsa', who was born in September '05 and so far, does not appear to be afraid of much. Here she is having fun in the snow.
Please visit Northeast Shires to see where Greggory was born. You can see more of him there, along with his sire, Sassy Supreme Prince William, or, Willy, and grandsire Garreg William. The pictures of Willy in dressage, are what made me look into buying one of his offspring. While black with four whites and a blaze, is the popular colour for Shires, the horses I remember from my childhood were usually bay, with a white blaze and any number of white sox and resembling Clydesdales, which were crossed with Shires, in an attempt to increase feather on their legs.
I'm currently working on a page called "How it all began", which starts when I was first bitten by the 'horse bug' and shows some of the many horses that have influenced my life in one way or another. I recently completed
Rambo's Story. His story is not an uncommon one- The ex-racehorse that gets a second chance.
