| Donald Leonard Blair and Ellen Elizabeth Cosford went on a blind date and married in Calgary, Alberta on July 29, 1950, approximately six months later. Don was in the Royal Canadian Air Force, so they traveled a bit. Deborah Elizabeth was born September 14, 1951 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. Sandra Lynn was born June 5, 1955 in North Bay, Ontario. Gwendolyn Dawn was born November 25, 1956 in North Bay, Ontario. Derek Lee was born April 27, 1964 in Baden-Sollingen (4 Wing), Germany. Don and Ellen had a wonderful time while Don was in the Air Force. They made lots of friends who continue to keep in touch, whether by visits or a yearly Christmas card. They kept themselves busy curling, playing darts and shuffleboard. Ellen also played baseball and speed skated. They travelled throughout Europe, taking their kids camping to Switzerland, France, Britain, Italy, etc. Many memories were forged during those four years while we lived in Germany... one memory is that Mom kept saying "Stop reading those comics and look at the scenery!" |
