| Donald Leonard Blair, of Glenholm, NS, passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher Care Facility in Calgary, Alberta on April 19, 2004. The family extends sincere thanks to all staff at the Colonel Belcher for their care and regard for Don over the past couple of years. He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Ellen Elizabeth (Cosford), his three daughters, Debbie of Vancouver, Sandra (Lloyd) Dowkes and Gwen Gemmell of Calgary, and his son, Derek (Anna Maria) of Red Deer. He is also survived by seven grandchildren (Raina, Nicole (Steve), Jennifer, Dustin, Cheryl, Ashley and Annika) and three great grandchildren (McKenzie, Mya and Megan) and many relatives in Nova Scotia. Don joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 19. He traveled all over Canada, bringing him to Calgary in 1949 where he met Ellen, his bride. After postings in North Bay ON, Goose Bay NF, 4 Wing Germany and Base Borden ON, Don retired in 1968, when he and Ellen chose to make Calgary their permanent home. After the Armed Forces, Don worked at Watson Sheet Metal for several years. Don greatly enjoyed the camping life and bought camping land near Sundre. He counted many people from the campsite as good friends. He will be remembered as a generous and loving man who would help and support others in any way he could. |
