SDC Recorder Society

Fred Ubaldo, Jr

Back to
SDCRS Calendar
FRED UBALDO, JR. discovered the joys of playing the recorder in high school. He studied (and performed in Early Music ensembles) while pursuing studies in composition and jazz at SDSU. However, It was an adventurous and forward-looking quartet that encouraged Fred to apply his arranging techniques to expand that group's repertoire; their library grew to include a broader range of recorder literature than had been available commercially. He continues to arrange for combos, jazz big bands, pops orchestras and Latin music ensembles. But Fred's writing abilities -- combined with his understanding of the qualities of the recorder -- make him uniquely qualified to create arrangements that bring out the best of both song and instrument... and are fun for player and audience alike.
If you were with us in May, you know what a great time we had. Make plans to join us for the October 17 SDCRS meeting, when we explore a NEW set of music that touches on several music styles, old and new. We'll even pay tribute to Oktoberfest!
