It's not a radio station, but SCWIS uses your AM radio to deliver weather, information and entertainment programming, serving a small part of the community with low power radio signals.
This project used the old-school, "soldering iron and schematic" approach. See the GIZMO page for the plug and play solution.
The SCWIS system consists of 6 items:
  1. A triple conversion NOAA receiver.
  2. A home built low pass filter.
  3. A Macromod compressor - limiter.
  4. An AM100 Part-15 transmitter.
  5. A home built inductive coupler.
  6. A Part-15 3 meter antenna
 See below for more information.

Salmon Creek Wireless Information Service brings you local NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day, for your convenience and safety.  Saving you the cost of buying a dedicated, specialized weather radio receiver, SCWIS gives you access to this same vital weather information with the AM radio you already own! Just tune in SCWIS at 1500 AM to get the latest weather.
