| Extract taken from The Brooding Times, dated 21st January 1998... "The manhunt for the murderer of seven teenagers in Brooding ended today when Jeremiah Hargreeves,37,an entertainer with the LeStade Travelling Circus which had arrived in the town only four weeks ago, was shot dead by Karen Greenych,17, after he broke into her house and attempted to slay her with a bread knife. Brooding police chief Connor Ryors told reporters: 'We have discovered journals in Hargreeves' trailer that links him to each of the crimes. It would seem that he held this town responsible for the death of his father, Laurance Hargreeves, who was also a member of the circus when it arrived here in 1969. Apperently Laurance Hargreeves was killed at the hands of a teenage gang during the circus' stay and, although eight people were thought to have been involved in the murder, not enough evidence was discovered to convict them. It would appear that Jeremiah Hargreeves had planned to kill each of the children born to those involved in an act of extreme vengeance.' He later praised Karen Greenych for her bravery. The town is now slowly coming to terms with its loss after two weeks of panic. The victims are listed as: Carlos Lorenzo, Lewis Arquette, Billy Sinclair, Jennifer O'Reilly, Stephen Campbell, Sharon Jackson and Mary Carpenter." It is now the 20th December 2000 and Karen Greenych is in her first year at Brooding University College where she lives on campus. She has slowly come to terms with the loss of her boyfriend Billy and her best friend Jennifer, both victims of the knife wielding maniac who, dressed like a clown, almost managed to kill her during one fateful night. After months of treatment, she no longer sleeps with the light on because she knows that Jerremiah Hargreeves is gone forever... Or is he? For tonight, as heavy snowfall cuts the college off from the outside world, Karen and the other students who have chosen to stay on campus during the Christmas holidays will come face to face with a killer who, wearing a grotesque halloween mask that recalls Hargreeves' own, will embark on a bloody quest to slay them one by one. Has Jeremiah Hargreeves returned from the dead? Or is this new killer one of them? |
