PERSONAL INFORMATION
My strongest qualities are: excellent attendance, problem solving skills, a team player and attention to detail. I am an 'old-school' thinker. I believe it's my duty to show up on time for work everyday with a good attitude. While I'm at work, I want to contribute as much as fundamentally possible. If that means helping someone else get 'up to speed' or tackling a large solo project - all the better. In order to do my job, I look to find the most efficient, logical solution. My weakest quality is simply impatience. This is an area that I have improved upon in recent years that had slowed me down. In most things I do I can see the 'light at the end of the tunnel' before I get there. In one of my recent work situations it was commonplace to be doing six or seven things simultaneously. Because of this, I have learned to focus better because of the multitude of assignments and their diversity and therefore prioritize my efforts better.
I am a goal oriented individual that enjoys new challenges. I am competitive by nature, outgoing and eternally optimistic. Whether situations be solitary in nature or a group environment does not matter to me. I lend my strengths where needed and give feedback where appropriate.
Extracurricular activities I enjoy are: softball, volleyball, football, tennis, watching sports, surfing the web and spending time with my wife, family and friends.
Computers are somewhere between a hobby and an obsession with me. Programs such as MS Word, Excel, Access, Front Page, Internet Explorer and Outlook are my favorites. Aside from my core favorite programs I've been known to dabble in score of others. My knowledge of these programs comes from school courses, on-line forums and a great deal of self exploration of the program features.
After experiencing the fulltime job market for the past fifteen years, I have a good idea what I would like from a job at this point in my life. I started out working part-time at a grocery store chain then moved into the consumer finance/customer service industry. I made a two plus year stop in the insurance pool that was enlightening and a wealth of knowledge. Each employment stop has given me valuable experience and new knowledge. Companies today are quite different from what they were just ten years ago. Most companies are looking to evolve and remain competitive in the market place and that requires many different skill sets. Understanding this mindset, I wish to find an employer that can make use of my skills and abilities for the long term outlook.
I completed High School in the top twenty percent of my class and earned the Grandview High School Teacher’s Scholarship. After high school, I attended Jefferson College working towards an Associates Degree in Microcomputer Networking. (In the next five to six years, I have the goal of completing a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology.)
In summary, my dedication and thoroughness will be a valuable asset to a potential employer. I am flexible and open to "starting at the bottom" with the right company for a promising career.
