Biohazard: Gun Survivor
Just recently it has been revealed that the main character in this game is an unnamed young man, who lost his memories in a plane crash. He decided to battle against the zombies and monsters to as a way to regain his lost memories. Two supporting characters have been revealed: Andy - an old man, who works as a guard, he witnessed how the town people got infected by the T-virus and turned into zombies, and Lot - a youth who has been brainwashed by Umbrella, his father is a scientist working for Umbrella and he seems to know a lot about the background of the main character. If you want to see images of them check out the Screens section which you will find the link to below.
The game is a FPP shooter, but the difference between this and other shooters on PlayStation is that it plays more like Doom or Quake, where you control the characters movement, instead of the linear, controlled movements of games like Time Crisis. Instead of letting the game do the work for you, you will be able to move forward, dash, spin around, turn right or left and of course, shoot using the gun. The movement commands will be executed by pointing the gun away from the screen and using the trigger as well as via the A and B buttons found on the gun. To activate doors, pick up items, or use various items, press the trigger button. Bullets are not wasted in these situations, nor are they when you press and hold down to move forward. Guns hold 15 bullets to a round and automatically reload.
The ability to move around freely should keep the adventure feeling of the Resident Evil series intact while adding a whole new level of action. Expect familiar sights such as opening doors, herbs, diaries and other items you will have to search for. Naturally, you will be able to change weapons at will too. Capcom-sponsored Flagship is again responsible for writing up the story and scenarios for the game.
Load times dont prove to be any better than Resident Evil 2, and graphically the game could use more work, with lots of pixels and rough looking textures blotching up the corridors. Of course, Gun Survivor isnt complete yet, so a good tuning is still in store for it. It's definitely a new twist on the Resident Evil formula, but there are plenty of familiar survival-horror elements as well. The zombies are back of course, and now you can target them wherever you like, shooting out their legs, blasting forearms, whole arms, or taking their heads clean off. As you hit zombies, their appearance even changes to show damage. Other enemies seen include crows, spiders, dogs, the "hunter" monster from RE1 and the "licker" creature from RE2, whose extended tongue - lashing at you when you're in the new first-person perspective - is truly disturbing. ![]()
