Well Done to Bill Bauman, 1st Dan Black Belt 2008.

Wednesday 22nd March 2007: Lindsay Stewart was put through her paces to achieve a well-earned Korean kickboxing 2nd Dan promotion, well done Lindsay, she will now be assisting in Gourock full-time.
Lindsay has been a devoted student from 1996, when she did her first grading in the November of that year. From there on in she has had an untarnished track record with attendance and commitment to learning Korean kickboxing.
At every grading, Lindsay has passed with flying colours and she has picked up a few double promotions on her way.
On the night of her 2nd Dan grading Lindsay was very nervous and had every right to be, as Master Instructors John Lightbody and Jackie Marshall worked her to extreme exhaustion.
After working through the full range of fighting forms to a total of over 600 manoeuvres, senior level techniques, jumping kicks and contact sparring with both instructors, she was ready for a well earned rest. Then she had the relentless wait for her results.
Lindsay had nothing to worry about as, again, she passed with a healthy score. Then came the tears of exhaustion and happiness as she was awarded with her 2nd Dan trophy, certificate and a new black suit.
Following tradition, Jackie then removed her belt to add her new 2nd Dan Barr.
John thanks Lindsay for her continued support over the years, and all the help with running his club in Gourock.
If you are an adult, male or female, and are looking to get a bit fitter in the art of kickboxing, call John on 07939 238541 for class details.

Thursday 24th August, Binnie Street. Grading took place, 17 Kids, 8 Adults and 2 Black Belt 1st Dan Gradings. Jackie and John arrive early to get ready the Dojang for the Grading, both Instructors suffering pre-show nerves as they always have. Anne and Marie with Young Lisa Blaikey (1st Dan also) are there to help set out chairs, tables and set up the Video Camera for taping event. Kim McNulty and Mark McKinnon appear early also and help their Instructors prepare Dojang. By 19:00hrs the place is buzzing with nervous parents and young students, Phil "The Dragon" Wilson, is helping his son Phil "maddy" Wilson to go through his Fighting Forms as well as some of the other kids upstairs warming up...with Trophies on display and camera ready, Instructors ready and students called to Chariok position and lined up. Grading Starts:
Ian Gilmartin, Suzanne McCall, Jonathan & Nicholas Gallagher, Ashley & Debbie Maxwell, Jenna & Rebekka Telford, Daniel Stewart, Kim McNulty, Mark McKinnon, Laura Campbell, Heather & Jamie Smith, Phil Wilson Jnr, Simon Gartley, Steven McAfee all await instructions nervously and in turn perform given tasks appropriate for their grades.
The level of ability and effort shown by these young Martial Artists was heart warming to watch. All students were passed on the night with some double promotion passes for Ian Gilmartin, Nicholas Gallagher, Debbie Maxwell, Heather and Jamie Smith. From Jackie and Myself Congratulations !
Following the success of the Kids the Adults now had to prove themselves and they did....... Phil "The Dragon"
Wilson Snr, Billy "The Kid" Dooley, Gus "Bond 007" Smith, Lindsay "Charlies Angel" Stewart, Emma "where am I" Chan, Lynn "Semi-Chem" Simpson and Alan "I'm better than Lightbody" Parker, all showed what good instructors are all about :-), they were a pleasure to participate alongside of. Exceptional display given by all. Lindsay and Alan receiving double promotion on the night.(no double promotions received Blue Belt and higher).
Next came the Black Belt Gradings, Colin "Nutter" Hamilton and Lisa "awight" Aitken, All Fighting Forms performed with excellence (Honestly), all ranges of technique tested and the patented "burn out" worked its course on the two. Then a "light" session of mixing some Kicks & Punches with their Instructors. Which was nice!
They both did superbly well and with pride earned status along with Carole, Scott, Alan, Lisa, Joanne and Allan in the Scottish Hwa Rang Do Kickboxing 1st Dan Black Belt Club.
To all many congratulations and respect."Keep up your training!"
Grading 19th September at Port Glasgow. Young Ellis Elliott successfully passed her 1st Dan Black Belt! Receiving 120 out of 150! Well Done!
Tuesday evening 19th September, 11 anxious & nervous kids suited up ready for their gradings: Lauren Dow, Jodie Stewart, Andrew Connor, Christie McLaughlin, Nathan Moore, Natasha Campbell, Jamie Campbell, Dean Oakley, Paul John Coulter, Joseph McIntyre, Michael Deary. The performance on the night was magnificent, from warm up (where the younger students impressed with their flexibility) to actual Grading participation. The level of maturity shown by the Kids was exceptional, commendations go to Joseph & Michael who have justifiabley moved closer to their 1st Dan
status. Too all kids well done!
12 Adults: Garry Wilson, Lynsey Collins, Lynsey McCloy, Tom Barnsley, Grant Clark, Alan Parker, David McDougal, Stewart Cameron, James Eardley, Edward Lee, Andrew Smillie, Charles Haggarty, prepared with the same enthusiasm & took to the floor, the next hour flew in as all students performed excellently, Basic technique through to sparring all did extremely well ! Congratulations on perfect pass rate again!
Waiting very nervously watching all these previous events had been Elliss Elliott who had utilised the tiolets in the centre a couple of times prior to grading! (Thats what your Black Belt Grading is all about!), Under the watchful eyes of her Instructor & examiner with fellow Black belts watching Ellis started her grading, she had to perform ALL Techniques & Forms to the obvious high standard required for Expert Level. During session having to stop for another tiolet visit, exactly what "burn out" is meant to do. Ellis well done & welcome to the growing Black Belt fraternity.
