James M. Scoggins was born in Georgia ca.1830 and died ca. 1864 in a place unknown .He married Abigail J. last name unknown born in South Carolina ca. 1836. She died in Emhouse, Navarro Co. Texas. Most of the children from their marriage can be found listed in the 1860 census for the town of Newnan, Coweta Co., Georgia. John A. was born ca.1851 in Alabama. Delitha Elizabeth (Telitha) was born Oct.11, 1852 in Georgia and on Sept.01, 1870 married Willis Newton Richards .She died May 20,1931 at Emhouse, Texas. Drewy Alexander was born May 1854 in Georgia and married first to Sussie A. Miller place unkown and second to Alice Wilks (Boyd) in Navarro Co. He died Sept 28, 1923 in Corsicana, Texas. Martha J. was born ca. 1854 in Georgia. She married Christopher Columbus Richards on Oct. 16,1873 in Gordon Co. Georgia and died June 19,1890 at Emhouse, Texas. Sarah was born ca. 1860 and not listed on any other census. James M. Was born in Georgia Aug. 29,1863. He married Lucinda Riley Oct. 13,1886 in Navarro Co. Texas. He died on Aug. 03,1921 in Corsicana, Navarro Co. Texas. The last child was Mary Margaret born Oct.07, 1865 and after the death of Martha J. she married Christopher Columbus Richards in Navarro Co., Texas. She died on May 07, 1943 in Corsicana, Navarro Co., Texas.

In the early 1870's, Abigail J. (X) Scoggins married Rebuen Richards. Rebuen was born in Georgia ca. 1818 and died in Texas ca. 1879. Abigail J. and Rebuen Richards had one female child Frances C. Richards born ca. 1875 Ga. In approximately the middle 1870's, the Richards and the Scoggins moved to Texas, first Hill Co. then to Emhouse, Navarro Co. We first found Drewy Alexander Scoggins (my gr.-grandfather) in Hill Co. in the 1880 census with his first wife Sussie A. Miller and one child (my grandfather) Stephen Alexander Scoggins. The next time we found Drewy he had moved his family to Emhouse, Navarro Co. Texas and that was in the 1900 census. The Children of Drewy Alexander Scoggins and Sussie A. Miller are Stephen Alexander born May 25, 1878 in Texas and he died July 25,1929 in Corsicana, Texas. Stephen married on March18, 1899 Mary Belle Bryant. Mary was born Dec. 22,1882 in Emhouse, Texas and died at the Memorial Hospital in Corsicana, Texas on June 27, 1974. Mary F. Scoggins was born May 25, 1882; she married Henry T. Vandergriff. Edward Eugene Scoggins born June 07, 1887 in Navarro Co. Texas -died March 18, 1947 Corsicana, Texas married Ertie Gertie Myrtle Pearl Martin. The other children were Lee born March 1893,Drew born April 1896, Lula Leona born Jan.1898; she married Edwin Napoleon Smith on Feb. 03, 1891. Drewy Alexander Scoggins and his second wife Alice Wilks (Boyd) (born in Tennessee and died Nov 10,1910 in Corsicana, Texas) had two children. Wilma Alice born Nov. 04,1904 and 1 that had no name on record at the Navarro Co. Courthouse born Aug. 31, 1908.

  As we reached the 1900's, Stephen Alexander Scoggins and his wife Mary Belle Bryant started having children. First child was Minnie Loraine Scoggins born in 1900 Emhouse, Texas and married Jack Turner at Corsicana, Texas. They had no children. The next Child was Buford Melvin Scroggins (my father) born Oct. 27,1902 Emhouse, Texas and died Nov. 16,1969 Houston, Texas. He married on Feb 03,1930 at Katy, Texas (my mother) Perry Lee Andress born June 12, 1912 Polk Co., Texas (near Livingston, Texas) died (Deer Park, Texas) Feb.22, 1997. They had six children. The next child was Gilbert Scoggins born Emhouse, Texas 1905 and died in an oilfield accident at a young age with out marring or having children. Scindy Scoggins born Emhouse, Texas April 09,1907 died June 09,1988 married James W. Farmer. They had one child. Mary Lee Scoggins born Emhouse, Texas 1908 married Cecil Fetty and had no children. Stephen Alexander Scroggins Jr. was born July 09,1909 Emhouse, Texas and died at Cleveland, Texas Dec.10, 1981. He married Ossie Beatrice Keen and he had four children. Nellie Jewell Scoggins was born Emhouse, Texas in 1912 and she married Robert McCormick and had no children. Gertrude (Bud) Scoggins was born Emhouse, Texas Feb 24,1917and died May 26,1994 in Corsicana, Texas. She married Allen Thomas Fouty, and they had one child.
