WORKSHOP
1 CONTENT: This
introductory workshop will help language teachers who are new to the
profession (or experienced teachers who are new to this approach) master
the basic principles and techniques of communicative language teaching.
During the morning session we will cover a rationale for
Communicative Language Teaching and the principles of communicative
exercise design, as well as working with some prototype activities which
can be tailored for the participants' own classes.
In the afternoon we will explore the role of students' background
knowledge in language learning and teaching.
Participants will be provided with an informative handout and a
bibliography of useful references. TARGET
AUDIENCE: Teachers, graduate students in Applied
Linguistics/Education/Foreign Language Education, and anyone interested in
teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language.
This workshop is open to participants without previous teaching
experience. Date: August 13, 2002 Time: 9 a.m. – 12 noon & 1 – 4 p.m. Venue: SALISES, UWI St. Augustine.
