The abandoned mill buildings and warehouses of the old Plymouth Cordage Company are true relics of the industrial era. The old mills have a unique design. The buildings in the picture above are complete with vintage machinery (such as steam engines), catwalks, old frieght elevators, and a system of underground tunnels. I've decided to create a web site about these buildings because they dont build them like they used to. The Cordage Company supplied jobs and homes to many immigrants during the great depression. All of the bricks for this old factory were made on site. These historic buildings may not be around for long. The Cordage Company is a part of Plymouth's history that needs to be recognized. There have been plans for condos in the place of these buildings. The true reason that I am building this site is mainly because of the unique design of these buildings. I want to shed some light on these buildings before they are gone for good!
The Cordage Company was so large that it had it's own industrial railroad.
