About Your Schnorkie

Your Schnorkie will have been given a first worming and shots before you take Her or Him home.
** They will need two more sets of shots. * You will need to make sure they have the next two sets of boosters beginning within the following month.
There will be more info on their health and nutritional needs in the Puppy Packets.
Puppy Packets and starter food packets are provided for each Puppy.  The Puppy Packets contain their Registration papers, Health Records and much more info about them.

HOW BIG WILL MY SCHNORKIE BE AT FULL GROWTH?
That's a question no reputable honest breeder can answer with entire surety until the puppy is closer to 6 months old. Even a Quality Champion Show Breeder. If they tell you otherwise, they are scamming you to sell, because it depends on too many future factors like food and care, and ... as we all have heard, the runt of the litter can turn out to be the biggest and the biggest doesn't mean they will stay that way.
BUT!
For all general purposes and our purpose here, the size should be within the parental breed lineage sizes.
For these puppies:
The Sire (King Zach) is a pure breed, Registered Show Quality Yorshire Terrier well within the AKC standards at 8 inches of height at shoulders and an average weight of 6 lbs.
The Dam (Queen ChiChi) is a pure bred, Registered Show Quality Miniature Schnauzer well within the AKC standards of 10 inches of height at shoulders and an average weight of 8 lbs.

WILL MY PUPPY STAY THE COLOR IT IS NOW?
Maybe... not necessarily and probably not.
All Yorkies and Schnauzer puppies are born nearly all black with degrees of color markings. These markings generally spread and lighten while the black area shrinks and even fades. Undercoats tend to be different color at full growth than the tips of the hair. To show you these characteristics is why we have photos of parents and brothers in the site. Take a good look at
Queen ChiChi, King Zach, Prince Rudy and Prince Teddy. < LINKS They were all basically black at birth.  Prince Rudy had more pronounced gold and white markings around his muzzle and feet, while Prince Teddy had nearly none.  King Zach had medium muzzle and feet markings while Queen ChiChi was almost totaly deep rich black.

I'VE HEARD THAT YORKIES AND MINI SCHNAUZERS ARE HARD TO HOUSEBREAK... IS THAT TRUE?
That's what I heard too, 7 years ago, when I got my first Yorkie.
As I had worked with Sheltie breeders and Vets for many years, I had always used the recommended crate training method for them and didn't think of doing anything different for my Yorkie... other than PROTECT the crate bed area much more carefully from circulating air and chilled floor air
(their tiny hearts can NOT stand the cold or the heat like other larger breeds). I did  this by inserting a kitten house bed inside a card board box inside the back of the crate and added a square fuzzy blanket material that was about 14-16 inches square, for him to scratch up and lay in or get under (they scratch and bury much more than other breeds), inside the house.  As he grew, I had to take out the cardboard box as he chewed it up.... so I just left him the bed house in the crate.
He stopped messing or wetting in his crate by the time he was 4 months old.  He has only pooed on the floor one time in his life and will go into loud panic attacks to get outside to do his business, even when ill. Training not to "puddle" was a little tougher isssue, but it always is, no matter the breed.
He was well housebroken by the age of 8 months, and continues well house trained, as is Queen ChiChi.
* PLEASE NOTE  *
The Crate Training Method will be addressed in your Puppy Packet.
Your Vet can give you even more info, pointers and encouragement, but we'd like to give your some here that are very important and may be missed or forgotten.
1) this method is very similar to putting a human baby on a feeding, bed and wake schedule and is very effective .. but ...
2) THE CRATE SHOULD NEVER BE USED AS A PLAY PEN.
Your puppy needs constant companionship and interaction with YOU in order to grow into a friendly interactive Furry Family Member you can enjoy and that prefers YOU above all others.
There is some important health info on the next page
that we
really   hope
you do NOT miss.
