The Crate Method Continued....
If you need a play pen area, these are sold in pet shops and walmart or you can make your own with some low vegetable garden fencing material from Lowes or Home Depot. * just make sure it is smooth, safe wire that won't cut them and galvanized so they don't eat rust.
3)
The success of this method will depend upon your faithful and close watching of their actions at every moment while outside the crate.  Watching TV or doing other things that takes your mind and eyes off of them while outside the crate just makes their mistakes happen, training take longer and be more miserable, and possibly ineffective, for them and you both.
4)  If you monitor their actions closely enough, you will learn the first signs of their slowing or stopping play or interaction to do their business and can quickly get them to their potty zone BEFORE an "accident" happens... just like potty traning a child.
5)  A sharp emphatic commond of "No!"  (NO SCREAMING OR YELLING PLEASE) will usually stop or slow them down as you pick them up to hurry them out to their potty zone.
ALWAYS PRAISE THEM while in the potty zone.
6)  All 'mistakes' should be cleaned up and placed in the potty zone. Even their wet.
7)  The Potty Zone should NOT be located in a spot you do NOT want them doing their business in after they are grown.  As far away and out of traffic the spot can conveniently be located is the best right from the start.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS TINY BREED?
Other than understanding that their tiny sizes means smaller and more fragile bodies, bones and organs that more easily break or rupture... cannot take the slaps or rough house play that others can ... THE HEAT and COLD.

All miniature and toy breeds are more sensative to the heat and cold than other breeds because their tiny hearts just can't do battle against human sized conditions.
* * * Yorkshire Terriers especially and absolutely CANNOT take the heat.
They are affected at much lower temperatures (high 70's and low 80's) than most other breeds.

Our Vets have told us that many more of this breed suffer damaging strokes, and most usually die instantly or miserabley, simply by being left in cars with windows cracked in low 80 degree weather or from being left outside in it. Temperatures that other breeds could take without damage or death may be quickly fatal to your Schnorkie.
* * * Cold temperatures are not as miserable to die from, but they still suffer chill, illness and death from it at much warmer temperatures (50's) than most other breeds.
