Pauli and I left the summer cottage by around 11:00 so that we could go to a Finnish baseball game.  For all of you who are familiar with American baseball and softball, I have to tell you that there are very few similarities.  The ball is different, their gloves are different, the field is different, the bases are aligned differently, and so on.  The rules are also so different that I couldn't even begin to explain it all.

Anyway, the game we went to was the first in the championship series.  It was a lot of fun to watch, in my opinion at least, but maybe because of my love of American softball.
Warm-ups - as you can see, the pitchers don't pitch from far away.  Actually, they throw the ball straight up over the plate and then back away so the player can swing.
Here you can see the uniforms of both teams as they introduce the players to the crowd.
I'm following tradition the best I can - instead of a hotdog, I have a tasty Finnish sausage.
The teams huddle up during a timeout.  The players wearing the checkered uniforms are designated hitters, that don't play defense at all.  The guy with the golden helmet has scored the most points while batting thus far this season.
The guy on the left is sliding into homeplate to score a point.  The only type of slide that I saw was similar to this, superman style.
